French four-glass mantel clock

he French four-glass mantel clock is an exact reproduction of its nineteenth century counterpart. French clocks of this period embodied the merits of classical design with the spirit of technological progress. Four Corinthian columns rise from the clock's base topped by a plinth creating an architectural case with four glass panels through which the mechanical wonders of the mechanism can be viewed.

The case and garniture are hand crafted in solid brass gilded with 22 carat gold and lacquered to preserve the finish. The glass panels are beveled and the dial is enameled.

The twin train spring driven movement strikes the hours and half hours on a gong. The mercury pendulum ensures that small fluctuations in temperature do not adversely affect time keeping. This movement which is an exact copy of the original is entirely hand made in our workshop.

A limited number of these clocks were made for a client in America but we welcome any new enquiries concerning them.
