The first wheel and pinion is fitted between the great wheel and the centre pinion. Its function is to extend the running duration of the clock. For example with the use of this gearing a week going movement can be made to run for one month with a 4-1 gear ratio.The picture shown above is that of a Tavern clock movement but the function of the gearing is exactly the same.

The price quoted is for making the steel arbor and brass pinion. It excludes making and mounting the first wheel attached to it.
