French wheel collet

The collet in the above photograph is shown mounted to a wheel and arbor for illustrative purposes only.

It is essential that a wheel runs perfectly true on an arbor. Therefore an existing wheel collet cannot be reused on a new pinion. When an existing wheel is remounted onto a new pinion and arbor a new collet is soldered in place, the wheel seating is turned to size and the existing wheel is riveted in place . When the wheel is in place the collet profile is finish machined to the same style and size as the original.
